Background

Much of psychology is focused on outer issues and problems.  Process Oriented Psychology flows between inner and outer work.  We are trained to go to someone else to “give us a session,” which is great, and we need to know how to give ourselves a session.  Processwork has methods for guiding people who are on the whole spectrum of being internal, from just being quiet and meditating, to trance states, to coma and severely withdrawn states.  The methods work in both directions, for ourselves and for guiding others.

Most meditation methods are based on observing what comes up.  In Process Oriented inner work, we both observe and step into the material that comes up.  We use the detachment of meditation to help us step into and process all kinds of internal and external experiences.

In terms of dreamwork, Processwork builds on Jungian work, Gestalt, and other methods.  The dreamwork came out of Jungian work but then shifted into the concept of the Dreambody, that is both dreams and the body and allows us to take the dreamwork into all areas of life.

In these methods, we not only step into knowing intellectually the meaning of the dream but also the energy and embodiment of the dream.  Processwork brings many tools to help guide ourselves and others when working with our dreams and brings the concept that we are always dreaming, 24 hours a day, and how to access the dreaming.

Previous Accomplishments

Those of us teaching this program have taught these areas in other Processwork programs, and use these skills with ourselves, our clients, the groups we work with, and other applications.

Recipients

Anyone can benefit from knowing how to do inner work with self and others, and how to work on your dreams and those of others.  We all dream and all have inner experiences.  We are especially guiding this training for Processwork students and learners and for therapists, and also welcome interested others utilizing this focus for their personal growth work.

Theory and Methods

The methods come from Process Oriented Psychology. We may integrate other meditation methods, dreamwork methods, shamanistic methods, and the core of the training is based on Processwork.

As a Certificate Program student, you choose an adviser from a list we will provide of diplomates. If you are already in a diploma program, you may already have an advisor and may utilize that person. This course consists of the following:

  • The list of seminars to attend

  • A plan for using 15 sessions, between personal growth and supervision, to sharpen your tools in these areas

  • Identifying your own areas of personal work needed around this program

  • Developing, getting support, and presenting some kind of final project that demonstrates your learning and growing in this area. This can be a paper, a demonstration, developing a class to teach, an art project, et cetera.  It is coordinated with your advisor.

Flow of Seminars

Participants can enter the program at any one of these seminars and then follow the flow of seminars until all are completed.

Basic Dreamwork

This seminar focuses on the basics of Process Oriented Dreamwork, including working in different ways with associations, and channels in dreams, working with edges in the dream and working the dream as a piece of edge work, stepping into the dreaming and secondary process, weaving the dream levels together, and integrating the dreaming material.

Working with Childhood Dreams and Life Myth

Childhood dreams in Processwork contain the core energies and issues, and powers of our life. This series will focus on several ways of working with childhood dreams and understanding the life myth that they reveal.

2nd Training Dreamwork

This course brings in the tools of 2nd training, like Earth-based work and space-time dreaming, as ways of expanding how we work on dreams and allowing our connection to something greater than ourselves, whether working on our own dreams or others, to guide our dreamwork.

Basic Inner Work

This training focuses on the basics of how to go inside, how to follow channels, work with edges, step into dreaming and secondary material, and how to bring this back into daily living. For those who don’t have this basic training, they will receive it, and for those who do, they will get more practice and tools to deepen the effectiveness of their work.

Second Training Inner Work

We will cover many methods of inner work, including walking vectors, working with spinning, Earth-based work, space-time dreaming, X and U work, as well as working with flirts and flickers.

Application of Inner Work

This seminar will focus on how to apply inner work with all of life’s major experiences, including body symptoms, relationships, world issues, group facilitation, and altered states. The focus is on our own inner work.

Guiding Others Through Inner States

This seminar shifts from guiding ourselves through these states to guiding others through these states. We are focusing here on helping people make a guided inner journey.

Therapeutic Applications of Inner Work

This seminar will focus on how to use inner work to guide people through the whole spectrum of withdrawn states, including trance states, depression, and more severe withdrawn states like catatonic states, coma states, death and dying states of consciousness.

Note: This is a certificate of training stating seminars attended.  It does not give the graduate certification to practice this work.
