Objectives

  • Know the basics of working with symptoms using first and second training.

  • Know how to touch someone following feedback and accessing process through touch.

  • Know how to unfold what comes up when we touch someone in terms of following channels, working with edges, and the altered states that arise.

  • Knowing how to intervene hands-on, integrating Earth-based work, space-time dreaming, X and U polarity work, and other 2nd training methods in bodywork.

  • Knowing the red flags, where not to go, green flags, where to go, and the ethics of hands-on work.

  • Knowing how to do bodywork where the person is limited to giving only nonverbal feedback, for example, in working with coma, certain strokes, Alzheimer’s, and other conditions.

  • Understanding the differences involved in bodywork when addressing trauma—that is what is specifically trauma-informed bodywork in Processwork.

Background

The early work in Processwork was full of deep bodywork that helped us to work on our symptoms, access our powerful altered states, and get to know ourselves and the universe. Over the years, this work faded for many reasons. In this program, we bring back these foundation methods of hands-on work and update them with all the new developments, especially coming out of the 2nd training work.

Our body symptoms continue to be something that people suffer so much from in terms of fears and the experiences that we go through with our symptoms. This program helps us to be more fluid and flow with our symptoms and learn to harvest the deep wisdom and the powerful energy contained in our symptoms.

This work has application for any time we put our hands on someone, whether a client, a family member, a friend, or a lover. However, we will be focusing specifically on working with symptoms and showing how hands-on bodywork moves the stuck places and deep polarities in our energy body.

Previous Accomplishments

We have been teaching the individual units for the last few years and are now excited to offer a certificate of learning program. Some of us were also part of a 4-year training program in Japan in deep bodywork specifically related to coma patients and their processes.

Recipients

This is specifically designed for people working as therapists, bodyworkers, medical professionals, coma workers, and others who work with us using their hands. However, people find this work useful for anyone who experiences touch in their lives and is interested in understanding and working with the meaning in their body symptoms.

Theory and Methods

The theory and methods come from Process-Oriented Psychology, that is an integration of mind, body, and spirit work. Processwork emphasizes the deep meaning in our life experiences and that by following nature and our unique processes, our body experiences can become more alive and fluid and less disturbing and painful.

First, training bodywork emphasizes channels of experience and edges and unfolding experiences. Second, training bodywork focuses on the deep polarities in our symptoms, as well as bringing in the energy of the Earth and Sky into our bodywork.

Format

The program will be based on online training as well as in-person training, given in a few different locations to reach as many people as possible. Some seminars will be offered in person at the Process Work Center Hawaii.

The seminars will be offered in rotation, and people can take them as they can to complete them. There will be 8 seminars offered in a 2-year period. Topics will include Deep Bodywork Intro; Deep Bodywork going deeper, including ethics; work with acute symptoms and accidents, including red and green flags to be aware of; work with chronic symptoms; trauma work as deep bodywork; how our symptoms and dreams can help us with our life’s path and leadership styles, and Deep Bodywork, pleasure, altered states, ecstasy, and enlightenment. Because it is hands-on work, we will ask that some of the seminars be done in person.

Systems

As a Certificate Program student, you choose an advisor (from the list), and together, you create a learning plan.  If you are in the diploma program, you will already have an advisor.  The course consists of the following:

  • The list of seminars attended / to be attended

  • A plan for using 15 sessions between personal growth and supervision, based on the following:

a.     Identifying areas of needed personal work (ex., your own edges around bodywork: clearing your personal and historical trauma that affects your bodywork; supervision in giving bodywork, and deepening your abilities to work on your own symptoms).

b.    Identifying needs for support around your final project

  • Final project

Within the training, you will develop a project that helps you to apply your learning into your life and shows your contribution to this work. This can be writing a paper, giving a demonstration, teaching a seminar, producing some kind of an art project, et cetera. The development of the project will be accompanied and supervised by a chosen mentor. You need to write a short essay about the project, your ideas, how and where you want to develop and apply them, your interests/motivation, edges and learning as well as the methods you are using. You will also be asked to prepare a short piece of information about your project for our website.

Formalities

We need a written application that contains your interest, aims, and individual situation. Please write a summary of why this particular certificate is relevant to your personal and professional life goals. The trainers decide about participation individually. Upon completion of the training, participants have attended at least 15 hours of personal work/ supervision. They will receive a certificate that states their hours and areas of learning.

Fees

Application fee $75.  Registration Fee $250. Fees go towards paying the administrative costs of the program.

Flow of Seminars

Participants can enter the program at any one of these seminars and then follow the flow of seminars until all are completed.

Deep Bodywork Intro

We will cover the basics of what a Processwork approach to bodywork is and how it is similar to and differs from other bodywork methods. It is important to understand the evolution of bodywork in Processwork. We will talk about when to use hands-on work and its applications in many different kinds of situations, including amplifying feelings, nurturing touch, unfolding the process under acute and chronic symptoms, and many other uses. Specific focus will be given to how to use our hands to amplify signals, follow channels, and hold and go over edges and other 1st training methods.

Deep Bodywork Going Deeper and Ethics

We will cover ethical issues in touch and introduce awareness of how we and our hands can get “dreamed up” to be useful or potentially hurtful. We will introduce second training methods of how to work with the body in general and how to make touch more related, more accurate around following feedback, and more useful in terms of unfolding body processes. The emphasis will be on how to use 2nd training hands-on methods when we get stuck in our 1st training work and need to go further.

Hands-on Work with Acute Symptoms, Accidents, Green and Red Flags

We will focus specifically on how to process symptoms that are acute and accidents that are recent and still felt in the body. Then we will study red flags and green flags—when hands-on work is called for and when it is not, and we need to be careful not to injure or re-traumatize our client.

Hands-on Work with the Trauma Body

This seminar will focus on trauma-informed hands-on work and all the opportunities and special filters this requires of us when doing Process Oriented bodywork. We will cover how to know if trauma is present; trauma and boundaries; trauma and working with feedback; trauma work at the edge. Trauma-informed bodywork helps the person process trauma and come out of the session with less trauma than the person went in with.

Hands-on Work with Chronic Symptoms

This seminar will focus on how we can use our hands to work with chronic symptoms, both illnesses, and injuries. We will learn to unfold the special big messages in symptoms and understand both the personal and world messages and processes in our chronic symptoms. Special emphasis will be given to working with major life edges present in chronic symptoms and working with the trance states that come up in this work with these symptoms.

Chronic Symptoms, Childhood Dreams, Memories, and Peak Experiences

This seminar takes us into hands-on work with chronic symptoms again, with an emphasis on tying these symptoms to our childhood dreams, our altered states, and peak experiences. Working on chronic symptoms brings up and takes us into our most powerful childhood dreams and memories. People will learn more about how to use our hands to help unfold difficult chronic symptoms and chronic injuries by focusing on the Dreambody and its levels of consensus reality, dreaming and myth, and essence work.

How Our Chronic Symptoms and Dreams Can Help Us with Our Life’s Path and Leadership Style

This seminar will show how chronic symptoms and our dreams are two major roadways into the meaning of our life. Locked in our symptoms are tremendous amounts of potential leadership for our local communities and our work, and picking up our leadership and life path can be very relieving around symptoms.

Deep Bodywork, Pleasure, Altered States, and Enlightenment

Much of the focus in previous seminars is on symptoms. This seminar instead focuses on using our hands on ourselves, our partners, and our clients to help open up to positive altered state experiences. We will learn how to apply our learning to any touch situation. We will study how deep bodywork can take us in and through fixed old patterns to experience freedom from those patterns and to learn how to ground ecstatic experiences and free moments not just in our minds but in our bodies. From this point, bodywork becomes not only a hands-on practice but also a key to spiritual awakening.

Note: This training offers a certificate of learning to show what you have learned.  It is not a certification program for Process Workers or bodyworkers.
